PDCC 83

Good Tuesday morning friends!  I want to share with you my card for the Play Date Cafe challenge this week.  It's a color splash challenge and it's a fun one!  Black and white with lime green!  You can read the details at the link posted above, and this weeks challenge is a special one ;)

I used Papertrey's Green Thumb set for this card.  I just love the flower images in that one.  They are so fun and funky, really different from most of the stuff I have.  I stamped four of the larger flowers in green and then filled in with the smaller black ones.  I finished it off with my sentiment from the same set.

I had several projects I wanted to work on yesterday and the creativity just wasn't there.  Does that ever happen to you?  I was in the mood to create, had the time to create, was alone and yet the creativity was NOT flowing.  Such a bummer.  Maybe tonight :)

I hope you have a great Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by today!

To Journal or not to Journal

Good morning all!  I don't want to say "happy" Memorial Day because when you really think about the true meaning of the day, it's not exactly happy on all levels.  I want to express gratitude to those who have given their lives, during their service, for us, here in the US.  This is a day to remember them and all that they gave so we could go on living.  Thank you.

I wanted to share a little journal today that I made for my parents.  They are quite the travelers and they always journal while on their trips.  This was just made out of a composition notebook and I used Mod Podge to adhere the paper and also to seal the paper.  Since they'll be packing it around in the Harley, it has no embellishments :)

I used some Harley paper from EK Success that I picked up several years ago.  Using every bit of it too!  Then I just cut some letters out with my Cricut and Base Camp cartridge.  Ta da!

So, do you journal?  I mean other than on your scrapbook layouts.  Do you keep a journal and if so how often do you write in it?  I use to journal EVERY day.  Over the years, I've gotten out of the daily habit, but I still write in it and it is so much fun to look back and see where I've been and where I thought I was headed ;)  Is your scrapbook your journal or do you have a separate book, like the one I created for my parents?  What are your thoughts?

I hope you have a great Monday and thanks for popping in today.  I'll see you tomorrow!

Oy, blogger!

Good grief, I'm having the blogger blues!  I haven't been able to sign into to my beloved blog for 24 hours and have only been able to leave comments from my phone.  Boo, boo, boo!  I finally messed around on the Internet enough this afternoon and found that it might by a FireFox issue, and tried deleted my cookies and clearing out my cache.  It worked!  I can't believe that after such a short period of time this blog has become such a huge part of my life.  I get support and so look forward to hearing from you all each and every day :)

I just wanted to share a couple of quick layouts that I made awhile back with some scraps.  These both came together rather quickly, as do most of my layouts :)

Do you have big plans for your weekend?  It's a three day-er for us.  Yippee!  Abie's last day of school was today.  She came home with a reading award and a Principal's Honor Roll certificate.  So unbelievably proud of that girl.  I took her and Landry out for a special dessert treat after school today to celebrate.  We're having some friends over tomorrow and that's the extent of our plans.  We'll see where the rest of our weekend takes us!

Thank you so, so much for stopping by and I'll see you all soon!  :)

Tuesday Trigger

I know, it's Thursday.  I haven't lost it...yet :)  I've been watching the Tuesday Trigger pictures over on the MOXIE FAB blog lately and I finally had one that struck my fancy!

Check out that Pyrex!  Pretty cool right, totally makes you want to get crafty huh?

Here's my card:

I went a little crazy with the warm colors on this one.  Thoughts of summer are creeping in on me I guess.  I have a friend who just ran her first 5K on Sunday and I made this card for her :)

In other news, we had a bit of crazy weather here AGAIN, in Missouri.  Mike came to meet me for lunch and as we're sitting at the restaurant, the tornado sirens go off!  We had just finished eating and knew there was no shelter there so we decided to make our way back through downtown and to my office, where we knew there was a safe place to go.  We made it back to the office and waited out the storm there, with my co-workers, until 12:45 PM.  Later we found out the storm produced four tornadoes in our area and some significant damage in Sedalia, MO, a town about an hour and a half east of us.  Abie and Landry both took shelter at their schools and it was definitely the talk at the dinner table!  I'm hoping for some calm weather now.  Let's hope this is it.

Also, we took Abie to the doctor yesterday and while her arm is healing well, she still needs to wear her splint for at least two more weeks.  I think she was pretty disappointed, but she kept her chin up.  We're hopeful that she'll get to take it off at the next appointment!

Thanks for sticking with me today!  I hope you're having calm, beautiful weather where you are.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow!

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

Morning all! Today I'm participating in the May Papertrey Blog Hop.  Another first for me this week!  The May challenge was to create a card using flowers.  Now that doesn't sound too difficult does it?  Wrong :)  Haha.  It was almost too simple of a task.  Does that make sense?

Here's my flower card:

Paper:  Kraft, Aqua Mist and Hibiscus Burst cardstock
Ink:  Aqua Mist and Hibiscus Burst
Stamps:  Tag Its #1, Life
Other: Papertrey Ink Spiral Notebook Page Die, EK Success Embossed Curve Punch, vintage trim from LSS, brown paper sack from Michaels and mini clothes pin from Joann's

I had so much fun making this card!  It really came together the way I pictured.  I just always forget how BRIGHT that Hibiscus Burst is!  :)

I don't know if you've heard about the tornado that hit Joplin, MO on Sunday.  Joplin is about 150 south of where we live in Missouri.  I'm keeping everyone in my thoughts right now and am grateful for everyone from Kansas City who has gone down there to help.  It always amazes me when something like this happens, how a community can pull together to help.

I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!  Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow!

Good Tuesday morning to you all!  I have a new card for you today that I made for an awesome challenge!  You can find the details HERE

So here's my attempt at a clean and simple card with a little bling!

This card was super simple to make.  I trimmed my cardstock to size, stamped my Unity Stamp Co. sentiment in Momento ink and then situated my rhinestones!  Love, love, love the way this turned out!  :)

I hope you have a fantastic Tuesday my friends!  Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll chit chat with you later!

PDCC 82

Good morning!  Did you have a good weekend?  It was pretty humid here, lots of wind and some thunderstorms overnight.  I sure wish this weather would make up its mind :)

I'm playing along today at THE PLAY DATE CAFE.  Their color challenge is so pretty this week!

Here's my card...

I had fun with this one and just love the colors, even though I  couldn't come up with exactly the right brown.  Hope it's okay :)

Thanks for coming by today and I'll see you guys tomorrow!

A review of sorts and a another tag!

Yo it's Friday!  Anyone else as excited as me about this?  I wanted to share another tag I made with Pink Paislee's Hometown Summer line.  Love, love, love this paper and these punch outs so much!  So fun to work with!

Next up, I wanted to see if you guys had picked up this magazine yet.

There's been some chatter about it over on TWO PEAS.  Some good, some not.  I thought I'd give you my "review" on the mag, for what it's worth.  Ha!  I thought it was expensive, $14.99 is rough.  I found my copy at Hobby Lobby  and used a 40% off coupon, but still, it stung.  Sure didn't keep me from buying it though!  :)  Start to finish it took me almost three hours to look through this thing.  There were very little ads, which I appreciated.  Now I had heard some discussion that some of the rooms had been seen before, but the only two I had seen were Jennifer McGuire's and Jana Eubanks.  Honestly, I didn't mind seeing them again.  Now, I could sit and look at scrapbook/craft rooms all...day...long.  I loved that I could pick the magazine up and hold it right up to my face and stare at it.  I really can't do that with my computer screen.  I DID get several cool ideas and I was totally inspired to run down to my area start looking at how I could change things around.  HERE is a link to my crafty space after my big re-organization back in January.  I think it might be about time for another one!  :)  Wonder if I can talk Mike into believing construction is involved with organization?  Haha!  Let me know if you have any questions about the magazine!

I guess that's about it for today.  We have a busy day tomorrow.  It's the city wide garage sale and we have a few big things we're putting out along with a couple of the neighbors.  That way we can share watch duties.  Then we have TWO birthday parties in the afternoon.  Sunday is looking like a total wash out, so maybe that will be my crafting day!  Do you have big plans this weekend?  Thanks for stopping by today.  I can't tell you how much it makes me smile every time I get a comment.  It truly makes my day! See you soon!

Inspired by a lunchbox!

Happy Thursday everyone!  So today's card was inspired by my lunchbox of all things.  My sister got me the coolest lunch bag from THIRTY ONE for Christmas last year and every day I sit at lunch and stare at the patterns and colors and think about what a great card it would make.  THIS is the pattern, but not the lunch bag.  Isn't it cool?  Here's my card:

I used my MME Gertie Girlie stamps and Versamagic Wheat ink on Dark Chocolate paper for the background.  Have I mentioned that this is my new favorite ink?  ;)  Then I trimmed out the flowers and flourishes with my Cricut using my Storybook cartridge.  That's my favorite too.  ;)  I stamped some text on the flourishes and layered the flowers off center to add a little something extra.  Then I popped the flowers up and added a sentiment!

I just love finding inspiration for cards and projects in every day things.  There is so much color and pattern around us.  Have you found inspiration any place cool or interesting lately?

I hope you have a great day today!  It's grocery store day for me :)  Thanks for stopping by and I'll talk to you later!!

A tag, a basket and some other new goodies.

I'm super excited to share my new goodies with you today!  I have been searching for a three tiered wire basket for awhile now.  Back around Easter I saw a two tiered basket at Walmart for just $6 and thought "buy that Becky".  But I didn't.  Since then, I've seen several baskets but they were just WAY too expensive and I kept thinking about the $6 one.  However, every time I went back to Walmart, they were gone.  Until last night.  I walked down a different aisle and there they were, marked down to $4.50!!!!

I apologize for the crooked picture :) but you get the idea.  I bought two, one for my crafty space and one for the island in the kitchen!

Next up, I was able to get away to the scrapbook store this weekend and I picked up a couple of little things.

I love how fun and summery this line is!  Just look at those punchouts, with the orange pop bottle and the kids playing, too fun!  Then the paper, oh I LOVE this one with the houses on it.  I could eat it up!

This worked out perfect for a tag for our neighbors birthday party this Saturday.

I don't know if you can tell, but I stamped a tricycle on the background paper in Wheat Versamagic ink.  I think that's my new favorite ink!  I used Staz On ink on the punchout just because the surface was slightly shiny.
What new goodies have you picked up recently?  Anything summer related?  Hope you have a great day today, Mike and Abie are headed to the zoo with her school.  I'm sure they'll be worn out tonight!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll chat with you tomorrow!

More mini notepads

Good morning!  Are you ready for today?  I think I am.  I had a busy night last night, putting a fresh coat of paint on our wicker furniture.  We (accidentally) left it out on the front porch all winter long and it really took a beating.  So, it was really due for some touch ups.  I have a few things to share with you today.

First up the mini notebook I made for Abie.  I showed you Landry's last week HERE

More Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe goodies on this one and a piece of cork stamped with my Paper Source stamp, that I LOVE and a lovely glittered clothes pin :)

Up next, a couple of awards.  Last week I entered THIS card over at THE PLAY DATE CAFE for their weekly color challenge and I was chosen as one of the "Cream in their Coffee"!!!!

Last up, I received this award from PRISCILLA!  Not only is she a papercrafter but she is an AMAZING baker too!  Thanks so much for the award Priscilla!  Now with this award, I have to tell 7 things about myself and pass this on to 15 bloggers :)

So here's seven things about me:

1)  I have one sister and she is five years older than me.
2)  I would rather NOT see a movie at the theater.  (unless it's Bridesmaids with you mom)
3)  I love anything my husband smokes in the smoker.
4)  Sometimes I'll sweep the dust from the wood floor onto the carpet and then vacuum it up so I don't    have to get out the dust pan.  Yes, I'm that lazy at times.
5)  For being a positive person, I worry about everything.
6)  I make a menu out every week for our dinners, based on what's on sale at the grocery store.
7)  I'm a sucker for Christmas movies.  Even the really bad ones on Lifetime and Hallmark Movie Channel.

Okay, there are SO many awesome blogs out there that I love I'm going to say... grab this award and pass it on friends!  Spread the wealth!  I'm passing this on to everyone :)

That's it for me this lovely Tuesday.  I'll see you all tomorrow!  Thanks for coming by today!

PDCC #81

Good morning!  I can't tell you how happy I am to be back to blogging today!  I didn't realize how much blogger had become a part of my day/life until it wasn't there!  So grateful it's back up and running!  How about you?  ;)

Today I wanted to share my card for The Play Date Cafe Challenge #81!  When I first saw the color combo I thought, psht no problem!  But then I got to working on my card and it was kind of hard incorporating that gray.  I must say though, I love these colors together!  Here's the inspiration picture:

I started this card off with that little advertisement piece.  I went to my local scrapbook store on Saturday and bought a 12x12 sheet of journaling type pieces from Crate Paper (Emma's Shoppe) and this was one of them.  I literally built the rest of the card around this one little rectangle.  I've never done that before and it was definitely and interesting way to work :)

Paper:  PTI; Simply Chartreuse and Plum Pudding, DCWV; Gray and Lavender, Crate Paper; Emma's Shoppe
Stamps:  PTI:  Library Ledger Stamp, Autumn Abundance and It's Official
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Other:  Ribbon, American Crafts; Stick Pins, Making Memories; Buttons, PTI; EK Success Embossed Curve Punch

Okay bloggy babes, that's it for me today!  I have a lot coming up this week for you.  A couple of things I've bought, an award or two and of course some craftiness!  Have a fantastic Monday my friends and as always, thank you for stopping by and spending a moment with me :)

A little taggy goodness!

So here we are, on the edge of another weekend my friends.  These days and weeks are going by so fast.  I love the spring and summer so much, now that it's here, I'm trying so hard to enjoy each day.  I know how quickly they will go by and I want to try and get as much as possible out of every day.

Today I wanted to share with you a little tag I made for a gift bag.  The base was Papertrey Ink's Mat Stack I die and I layered on one of their Doily Details Dies which I had stamped on with their Life set.  I added a few pearls and also a glittered up clothespin.

Now let me tell you about this glittery goodness of a clothespin!  Michelle Wooderson talks about these on her blog all the time.  She simple adds a bit of 1/4" scor tape to the clothespin and then sprinkles on the glitter.  That's exactly what I did.  Let me tell you, it was super easy and I love how it turned out!  I want to glitter ALL of my clothespins now!  :)

Abie went to the doctor yesterday.  There's already new bone growing and since she's doing so well, he doesn't want to see her for two weeks.  The doctor seemed to think that she might be able to get the splint taken off at that next appointment!!!!!  We're really hoping that that's the case :)  That would be the Wednesday before our pool opens, talk about good timing!  Haha!

I hope you enjoy every moment of your Thursday and thanks for popping in for minute to see me today :)

Mini Notebooks

Good morning!  So I'm not sure what happened to my post yesterday, but it never posted.  I had it scheduled to post and it just never showed up.  Stink!  So, I made sure to post it when I got home from work last night.  It's a super fun card I made for The Play Date Cafe Challenge.  Scroll down and check it out if you didn't see it already :)

Today I have a fun little notebook that I first saw on Pinterest and then I followed the link from there to the blog HERE for "directions".  As soon as I saw these I knew my girls would love them!  Here is Landry's notebook:

These were so simple to make.  I had Landry pick out her paper for the cover and trimmed it to 3x6 and then scored it at 3".  For the inside pages I cut computer and graph paper slightly smaller than the cover and slid it inside the cover.  I stapled the binding to hold everything together and then just decorated it!  I slipped the clothespin, fancied up with a flower Puffie, over the outside edge to hold the notebook closed or in case she adds her own pages and things to the book.

Hope you have a nice Wednesday :)  Thanks for stopping by today!
